Excellence in Book Publishing
Barney Cullum – Making a Movement
I went with Acropolis, part of the Canbury Press stable, having seen what the team's publishing approaches had achieved in the past. An initial meeting gave me the confidence that the partnership would be straightforward and enjoyable. The team delivered on their promises around timelines and Amazon hosting, working with skill, care, speed, kindness and creativity.
We will turn your well-crafted manuscript into a professionally produced book.
We publish only non-fiction, notably memoir, biography, history, environment and society.
As non-fiction specialists, we know how authors can polish their writing and how to create an appealing and self-assured book. If you are daunted by the prospect of promotion, we offer marketing help too.
Crucially – and this is one of our greatest strengths – we are used to working with debut authors. You will find us straightforward and approachable. Find out more about our approach below.
Our Services
-
Book Publishing
A publisher is more than just a company that arranges the printing of books. We:
- buy and register an International Standard Book Number (ISBN) for your title
- enter bibliographic data on content, subject, keywords, and blurbs (called 'meta-data' in the trade)
- typeset manuscripts into table of contents, chapter headings, body copy, sub-headings, acknowledgements and so on
- check for grammatical errors and typos
- design front and back cover and spine
- ensure copyrighting best practice such as copyright page
- and, yes, we do arrange the printing of books, in paperback or hardback formats, or both
-
Digital Publishing
We publish ebooks. We:
- buy and register an ISBN
- enter basic book data (see print book above)
- format your print book into the industry standard ebook format (ePub), which will be uploaded to Amazon and other outlets such as Apple and Kobo
- arrange ebook distribution worldwide
-
Marketing
Many authors, particularly debut authors, ask for help when promoting their book. We:
- hold a marketing consultation with authors
- offer guidance on ongoing press and publicity
- highlight opportunities for speaking at literary festivals and other book sale events
- have access to specialist software for book sales
Questions and Answers
Who are your authors?
Primarily, new authors with factual books. Experienced authors are welcome too: you may be looking to change publishers or to try a different approach for your new book
What do you publish?
We publish non-fiction only. That covers a wide range of factual books, such as autobiography, biography, history, society, health and technology, among others. We do not publish any fiction, children's books, religious books, or poetry.
How soon will I hear from you?
We are pioneering a new form of publishing which is different – and swifter – than coventional publishing. You will hear back from us within six days of submitting your manuscript or making an inquiry.
When would you publish my book?
Your book could be published within six weeks of successful submission
Will you get my book into bookshops?
We ensure our books are available from the major online retailers, such as Amazon, which now account for a majority of print book sales. Physical bookshops will be able to order your titles too. We can also supply your book directly to authors for events such as festivals and lectures. Our ebooks are sold by all the major retailers such as Amazon, Apple and Kobo
